💡 This feature is exclusively for white label users.
You can upload a custom background image to your PDF tickets, so every ticket your attendees receive looks and feels on-brand.
You could choose to show off your event photography, reinforce your brand colours, or even add key event information.
How to customise your PDF tickets for all of your events
Open your Box office Settings.
Choose Email templates from the left-hand menu.
In the Event confirmation email box, click Edit.
Make sure the Attach ticket vouchers as a PDF checkbox is ticked.
Open the Customise PDF dropdown.
Click Upload background image and select your file. Use the crop tool to trim it to A4 dimensions.
Click Preview to see how your tickets will look before saving.
When you're happy, click Save.
How to customise your PDF tickets for a specific event
You can override the global background image at event level – handy if you want a different look for individual events.
Go to the Events section of your dashboard.
Find the event you want to customise and open it.
Choose Event confirmation from the left-hand menu.
Make sure the Attach ticket vouchers as a PDF checkbox is ticked.
Open the Customise PDF dropdown.
Click Upload background image and select your file. Use the crop tool to trim it to A4 dimensions.
Click Preview to see how your tickets will look before saving.
Preview shows a sample ticket on your background so you can check the layout, but the ticket details and the number of pages won't match a real order.
When you're happy, click Save.
To check exactly what your buyers receive, open the order in your dashboard and click Download tickets. That's the same file that's attached to their confirmation email. You can't download the PDF for a single ticket from the Issued tickets screen.
💡 Things to note
This feature is only available on white label. If you're not on white label, the Customise PDF option won't appear.
Your background image or custom design should be cropped to A4 dimensions with a max of 150ppi resolution – there's a built-in crop tool to help for images.
Your background image only appears on the PDF attached to the order confirmation email. The ticket shown in the body of the email is always our standard design, and so is the ticket on the Issued tickets screen in your dashboard – that's a web page rather than the PDF. Print ticket on that screen prints the web page, so it looks standard too.
When you're using a background image, your PDF has one ticket per page – so an order for four tickets is a four-page PDF, each page carrying your design.
Apple Wallet passes aren't affected by your background image.
If you untick Attach ticket vouchers as a PDF there's no PDF at all, so buyers will only get the standard ticket in the body of the email.
Background images can be JPG or PNG.
This feature isn't available for online-only events.
We recommend that you keep all images in your email (including your PDF ticket background) under 5MB in total, so sending stays fast.
The ticket voucher will cover the top-left quarter of the page, so avoid placing key design elements there.
You can download our ticket voucher template to help you with the design spacing.
