Sometimes you need to delete your customer data, for example to comply with GDPR, because a customer requested it or simply because you don't need their data after your event.
How to delete all of your buyer data for an entire event
Head to your 'Orders' page.
Filter your orders, using the 'Event or store is' filter, to show all the orders for the event you'd like to delete.
Use the 'Actions' dropdown select 'Cancel/refund' to cancel the orders that you want to delete the data for. (You can only delete personal data from cancelled orders).
Add a cancellation reason, e.g. "Deleting customer data".
If you don't want your old ticket buyers to get an email, we recommend un-ticking the box called 'Send cancellation email to customers'.
Make sure 'No refund' is selected.
Once your orders are cancelled, use the 'Actions' dropdown to select 'Delete personal data'.
Tick to confirm your data deletion - and you're done! Customer personal data, like names and emails, will now show as: ****** *****.
How to delete ticket buyer data for a single order
Head to your 'Orders' page.
Cancel the orders that you want to delete the data for.
If your event happened, and you're deleting data for a past event, untick the box called 'Send cancellation email to customer' when cancelling your orders, so as not to confuse your past attendees.
Select the tick-box next to the order, or orders, that you want to delete personal data for.
In the 'Actions' drop-down, choose 'Delete personal data'.
You will be shown a summary of your orders which will have data deleted. If you're happy, tick the tick-box to confirm. Then click 'Delete personal data'.
Your orders will now show ***** instead of any personal checkout information.
Alternatively, you can open an order, click 'edit details' and delete your customers' information and replace it with something else.
💡 Things to note:
Deleting an event doesn't delete the revenue information from an order, so you'll still have a record of this. Only personal information is deleted from orders.
When order data is deleted you'll see **** instead of names and emails.
When you've deleted personal data from an order, you'll no longer be able to open the order to view any details about it in your dashboard. You can still export the order details without personal data.
