How to copy an event

Learn how to duplicate a past or existing event.

Written by Rhio

To save time, you may want to make a copy of an existing event rather than rebuilding it from scratch. The process for copying one-off events and recurring events is slightly different. Let's take a look at each one below:

How to copy a one-off event

  • Navigate to your Events tab.

  • Find the event you want to copy in your list of upcoming or past events.

  • Click the three-dot 'more actions' button next to your event.

  • Select Duplicate.

  • Adjust your event name and dates by clicking into the boxes, and editing the information.

  • You can add more copies of your event by clicking the Add another row button.

  • Use the dropdown to select if you want your event to be in draft or published status.

  • When you are happy with your events, click Save duplicates.

  • You can edit your event tickets, settings, or descriptions by opening the event editor, as usual.

How to copy a recurring event

💡 All information but the dates and times will copy to your new event. You will need to schedule your occurrences from scratch. Read more about how to manage your event occurrences.

  • Navigate to your Events tab.

  • Find the event you want to copy in your list of upcoming or past events.

  • Click the three-dot 'more actions' button next to your event.

  • Select Copy to new event.

  • Your new event will open in the event editor, where you can make any changes and schedule your occurrences as if you were editing a recurring event.

💡 Things to note

  • Recurring events will not automatically copy over broadcasts. You can add these manually after you save your event. (You can copy content from other events into your broadcast when you create it to save time).

Error message: This is your copy. Make any changes and click 'Save'. Note, broadcasts are not copied - you can add these manually after you save.
  • For one-off events, you can select which broadcasts you want to copy when duplicating your event.

    • Broadcasts that were sent immediately or scheduled for a fixed calendar date do not appear in the copy options.

    • Only broadcasts scheduled relative to the event date (e.g. 1 day before event starts) can be copied over.

  • If you have hidden tickets using date settings, these will copy to your new event - make sure you update them if you need to!

  • All of your event information including the description, ticket types, checkout form questions and event confirmation email settings will copy to your new event.
