If you're selling reserved seats, your event works a little differently to a standard general admission event.
This guide walks you through the whole process, from designing your seating chart to publishing your event.
💡 Top tip: Build your seating chart before you set up your tickets. It's much easier to assign ticket types to seats once your chart already exists, rather than trying to fit a chart around tickets you've already created.
Step 1: Design your seating chart
Start by creating the seating chart itself, without worrying about your event yet.
Head to Seating charts in your dashboard and click Add seating chart, via https://app.tickettailor.com/seating-charts/activate.
Choose the chart type that suits your venue:
A simple seating chart is quick to build and fully customisable. It's the right choice for most events with reserved seating.
A seating chart with sections suits larger venues and stadiums, where seats are grouped into named sections.
If you have a floor plan already, you can trace it to build your chart around it.
Place your seats or sections on the chart.
Number your seats and label your rows.
Add your seat categories to match your venue (for example, Front row or VIP). These sections will be used later to assign your seated tickets.
Save your chart once you're happy with it. You can always come back and edit it later.

Step 2: Create your event
With your chart ready, you can create the event it belongs to.
Head to Events and click Add new event.
Fill in your Event info: name, dates, timezone, location, description and image.

Step 3: Link your seating chart to your event
This is where your chart and your event come together.
Under Tickets, click Use seating chart.
Select your saved chart from the dropdown menu.
Click Add seated ticket type to start assigning prices to your seat categories.
Enter a Ticket name, Price and Quantity for each category, then repeat for every ticket type you'd like to sell.
If you're also selling non-seated tickets, like standing or general admission, add these as separate ticket types. They'll appear alongside your seating chart at checkout.

Step 4: Finish and publish
Once your ticket types are set up, add anything else your event needs, like add-ons, refund protection or your event page design.
Save your event, then check your Get ready to publish checklist for anything outstanding.
When you're happy, click Publish event and your seats will be ready to sell.
💡 Things to note
You can reuse the same seating chart across multiple events, so it's worth spending a little time getting it right the first time.
