The quantity you set for each ticket type is the maximum number of that ticket type that can be issued. This helps you control availability for specific groups (for example, adults and children).
Individual ticket type limits can exceed your total event capacity.
Example:
If you’re selling tickets for a school trip, you might have tickets available per class, but only 40 total places on the trip. In that case, you would set up:
A ticket type per class, each with a capacity of 30 (as there are 30 students per class).
A total event capacity of 40.
With this setup, tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis, without needing to set exact numbers per class.
💡 This help article is about limiting the quantity of one ticket type. If you'd like to set a maximum quantity across a number of ticket types, read more here: How do I set a capacity limit across multiple tickets?
How to edit ticket capacity
From your dashboard, click on the 'Events' tab.
Select the event that you would like to change the ticket quantities.
Select 'Edit event and tickets' from the left-hand menu.
Under 'Create tickets' select the ticket you would like to change the quantity for.
Use the 'Change quantity' dropdown to choose whether you want to increase or decrease the amount of tickets available, or set the total capacity to zero.
The number shown under ‘Quantity’ represents the total number of tickets available for that type.
Write the number of tickets you want to add/subtract in the pop-up box, and click 'ok'.
Click 'Update ticket type' to save your changes.
💡 Things to note
If you’re editing a single event (not a recurring one), you’ll see a capacity indicator showing how many tickets have already been sold. This updates to preview your new capacity before you click ‘Update ticket type’.
You cannot decrease a ticket type’s capacity to a number lower than the number of tickets already issued.
