How can I add checkout form answers in emails?

Add your customer's answers to custom checkout form questions as placeholders in order confirmations and broadcasts.

Written by Rhio

If you've customised your checkout form to help you organise your event, you can reference the answers your customers gave you on their form.

For example, if you asked people to choose a meal option, you may want to remind them which option they chose in an email before the event, to prevent mix ups.

Or, you may want to address attendees by name in your order confirmation email.

💡 This feature is being tested. If you would like it applied to your box office early, please email hi@tickettailor.com

How to add answers to custom checkout form questions in emails

  • Head to your checkout form

  • Locate the custom question whose answer you want to reference.

  • Click the 'Copy placeholder' icon next to the question you want to include.

A screenshot showing the input icon next to a custom question in the attendee questions section.
  • Copy the placeholder tag that appears (it'll look like {attendee_question:42}).

  • Paste it into your email confirmation email template where you'd like the answer to appear, and click save.

    • Buyer questions (asked per order) can only be used in Order confirmations

    • Attendee questions (asked per ticket) can only be used in Event confirmations.

    • If you try to paste a placeholder where it can't be used, it will go red.

  • When the email is sent, the placeholder will be replaced with each response to that question.
