We're here to help you sell tickets for the biggest venues. From the top sports events, concerts with the biggest artists and wonderful places of worship, you can build your stadiums and arenas easily on Ticket Tailor.

This help article will show you how to create a seating chart with sections, even over multiple floors if you need it.

πŸ’‘ This article covers some advance seating chart functionality. If you haven't already, we'd recommend reading our 'Getting started with our seating chart tool' article first.

How to create a seating chart with sections

How to draw your sections

  • Setting up a seating chart with sections and floors is almost the same as with a 'Simple' seating chart β€” the main difference is that before you add rows and seats, you need to outline the various sections of your venue.

  • Use the 'Section tool' from the left-hand menu to draw the sections in your reference image, or trace over them in your reference image.

  • You can click to add a point or corner of your section, and then drag your cursor to draw the edges. Click on the original point to close and finish the section.

    • Repeat for each section of your venue until you've drawn your full seating chart.

  • To save time, you can duplicate (or copy and paste) a section if your venue has sections that are the same size and shape, using the buttons on the top right of the seating chart designer. Use the 'Mirror' tools if necessary to flip them horizontally or vertically.

  • Give a unique label to each separate section.

How to add rows and seats to your sections

πŸ’‘ If you're using a reference chart, you'll need to calibrate your seating chart to the image you've uploaded before you start drawing rows.

  • Double-click into one of the sections you've created.

  • The left-hand menu options will change to allow you to draw rows of seats.

  • Click your mouse where you want to start drawing your first seat, and then move it along the screen to create as many seats as you have in that section.

  • Repeat until you've added all of the seats in that section.

    • If you need to make adjustments, you can click and drag rows to move them around, or select multiple rows and use the 'Straighten' and 'Space evenly' buttons to get them to fit.

  • Repeat this process for every section in your seating chart.

  • To save time, you can duplicate, or copy and paste, a section with seats if your venue has sections that are the same size and shape. Do this using the buttons on the top right of the seating chart designer.

  • As with a simple seating chart, make sure you add labels to your Rows and Seats.

How to add extra floors (optional)

  • If your venue has multiple floors, you can add them in the designer by clicking the toggle on the bottom right corner.

  • Click '+ Add floor' to add a new floor, and you can then draw more sections on that floor.

  • Use the 'eye' Preview button to see what the 3D image of your seating chart will look like with your extra floors.

How to create categories for your seating chart

  • As with simple seating charts, each seat must be in a category.

  • Add your categories by clicking 'Manage' on the right-hand side.

  • Then, select section(s) and apply the relevant category.

How to preview your seating chart

  • You can use the preview button on the top right of the editor to hover over individual seats to check they have the correct labels.

  • When you're done designing, give your seating chart a name and click 'X' in the top right to exit the designer.

How to link your seating chart to your event

  • Open the 'Events' tab in your dashboard, and click 'Add new event'.

  • Add your event details.

  • Scroll down to 'Create ticket types', and click 'Use seating chart'.

  • Select the relevant seating chart from the dropdown menu.

    • You can choose whether or not you'll allow your ticket buyers to from leaving single seats available.

  • Click 'Save settings'.

  • You should see a new button appear called 'Add seated ticket type', which means your seating chart is connected to your event.

  • Add all of the seated tickets you want to sell for your event.

πŸ’‘ Things to note

  • If your seating chart has multiple floors but not multiple sections, you can build it using a 'Simple' seating chart as a 2D, birds-eye view.
