When you take in-person orders for your tickets, you’ll need to set up tap-to-pay to take card payments from your customers. Your customers will need to tap the NFC (Near field communication) spot on your phone (the area on your phone where the device finds contactless payments) so that they can buy your tickets.

šŸ’” In-person orders via the Check-in app are new, and being released to all box offices. If you don't have it yet, you will see it soon.

How to find the NFC spot on your phone

Most smartphones have an NFC spot, but where it is can vary depending on the brand and model of your smartphone. You can check your device’s user manual, or check your phone’s settings to locate the NFC area. When you’ve made your first successful contactless payment, remember where the NFC area is for future payments.

How to find the NFC spot for Android phones

The NFC spot on Android devices is often near the phone’s back centre.

  • Samsung Galaxy: Generally, the NFC spot is located near the top centre of the phone’s back.

  • Google Pixel: The NFC spot on Pixel devices is typically in the top-centre area on the back of the phone.

  • Other Android models (e.g., LG, OnePlus, Huawei): The NFC location can vary, but it’s usually around the back or middle of the device.

How to find the NFC spot for iPhone (iOS)

The NFC spot on iPhone devices is often near the top of the device.

  • iPhone X and later: The NFC spot is typically located at the top of the phone, near the rear camera.

  • iPhone 7 and iPhone 8: NFC is also near the top, though it may be slightly less sensitive compared to newer models.

šŸ’” Things to note:

  • NFC payments are secure and encrypted ways to pay.

  • Some phone cases, especially thicker or metal ones, can interfere with NFC functionality. If you experience issues with tap-to-pay, try removing your phone’s case and see if this improves detection.

  • Hold your device steady when taking payments, and make sure the NFC card or payment device touches the NFC spot directly and stays there for a moment.

  • If your NFC payments are not working,, check your device’s settings to ensure NFC is enabled. If it still doesn’t work, check for software updates, restart your device, or refer to your device’s user manual for troubleshooting.
